Everything brands, sponsors and event organisers need to know about Free Water Project.
The basics
What is Free Water Project?
Free Water Project turns advertising budgets into free water for real people at events, festivals, summits and public spaces. Brands fund the bottles, attendees receive water for free, and the campaign creates useful, physical brand engagement.
How does it work?
Brand partners sponsor bottled water campaigns. Their branding, message or QR code appears on the bottle, and the water is distributed directly to attendees in carefully selected environments.
Is the water really free?
Yes. The people receiving the water do not pay for it. The cost is covered by advertising partners who want to create a useful, memorable and appreciated real-world campaign.
Why water?
Because water is universal, essential and immediately useful. After air, water is one of the most important things for human life. We believe advertising should help fund access to something people genuinely need.
For brands
Why should a brand advertise this way?
Because this is advertising people actually appreciate. Instead of interrupting someone online, your brand gives them something useful in the real world — something they can hold, carry, reuse and remember.
Can we target specific audiences?
Yes. We specialise in matching brand partners with suitable venues, events, festivals and summits based on audience demographics, attendee interests and the theme of the event.
Can bottles include a QR code?
Yes. Bottles can include QR codes linking to offers, landing pages, competitions, app downloads, sign-up forms, menus, campaigns or any relevant digital destination.
Is this better than flyers?
Flyers are often ignored, binned or handed to the wrong audience. Free water creates a more useful interaction. People are more likely to accept it, carry it and engage with the brand because it provides immediate value.
For events
Can Free Water Project supply our event?
Yes. We work with events, summits, festivals, exhibitions, community spaces and high-footfall venues where free water can improve the attendee experience.
Do event organisers have to pay?
In many cases, the campaign can be funded by brand partners. The exact setup depends on the event, audience, volume, location and sponsorship structure.
Where is the water distributed?
Distribution works best in high-visibility areas such as entrances, registration zones, networking areas, exhibition spaces, queues, outdoor event zones and other high-footfall locations.
Can the bottles be co-branded?
Yes. Campaigns can be created for brand partners, event organisers or co-branded partnerships depending on the commercial structure and campaign goals.
Sustainability & impact
Do you use plastic bottles?
No. We do not use plastic bottles. Our current model focuses on aluminium formats designed for recyclability, reuse and better long-term visibility.
Are the bottles recyclable?
Yes. Aluminium is widely recyclable and can stay in circulation when disposed of correctly. We also encourage reuse and refill wherever possible.
Do you donate per bottle?
Yes. We aim to donate £0.10 per bottle to good causes while reinvesting into the project so we can scale free water access further.
What is your main impact?
Our main impact is transforming advertising spend into public benefit. Instead of ads simply interrupting people, they help fund something useful: free water.
